Top of the morning to ya fellow wild sowers. This week started out as hopeful as these cherries themselves. I mean even George Washington picked them. But alas my wild grandiose ideas came to a crashing halt when I tried to make the chicken tortilla soup you see below. As you can tell, I was excited even taking pictures of all of those veggies! It had avocado, organic chicken, corn, black beans, garlic, onion, chicken broth, green peppers and lime. Sound good no? Ding ding ding, you are the winner! My family hated it and I wasn't too fond either but I froze it -something I've done for the first time ever. Hopefully, the freezer gods touch it with magic and it tastes better heated up.
Then as you can see next, I was so starving after a very long run, that I had to go in Starbucks and get oatmeal and coffee. It took a lot of convincing let me tell you.Perfect oatmeal is ......well.....perfect. So as you can see it was take 2 with the crock pot craziness. I made a pot roast with fresh carrots, beef broth, onion, garlic and french onion mix. I had to cook it on high before dinner so it was pretty much a fail too. But, I did steal a bite last night and after cooking on low for four extra hours, it was delicious and melted in your mouth. My plan is to make it into Shepard's pie tonight to which the husband said, "what is that?" I mean come on, haven't we lived in the Mid-west for the past 7 years??? So how has your week of food planning going? What do you do when you have big plans, work hard and its and epic fail?
